What is the difference between a Holistic Nutrition Practitioner and a Dietician?
Both Holistic Nutritionist, Dietitian/Nutritionist are food and nutrition experts who are able to asses the clients needs and counsel them on healthy eating habits.
The recommendations made by dietitians are mostly based on the Canadian Food Guide, which some criticize for being confusing and ridden with flaws.
The problem with the Canadian Food Guide is that the foods that fall out of the food groups- don’t really have a place & some don’t belong (for example: juice)
While I believe both serve an important part in the wellness world & many have had great success with, some client cases are more complex.
Holistic Nutrition Practitioners/Holistic Nutritionists see clients as a whole and address body systems out of balance along with the main concern.
We address nutrition, the mind (belief systems, making friends with food, confidence etc) and supplementation if need be as our soil is so depleted from its vitamins & minerals nor do we eat enough vegetables.
In most cases it’s important we address that.
When I work with my clients I often refer to out sources so we test and not guess on what levels we are at. (EI: hormones)
Holistic Nutrition Practitioners look deeply into the disease & nutrition.
We consider the small but meaningful details in a client.
Learning about YOUR unique nutrition needs and understanding the reasons why are my specialty.
Both are equally amazing for helping people in their wellness routine.
